Two-way radio surveillance earpieces with acoustic tubes continue to be a popular audio accessory for discreet communications and high noise areas. Follow the tips below to extend the life and value of your investment.
Replace Acoustic Tube Yearly
The acoustic tube should be replaced annually and more often if used in smoke and dirty atmospheres, New tubes are clear and transmit sound louder. If your tube is no longer clear and is gray in color it is time for a new one. Most brands use the coiled quick-disconnect tube and are interchangeable.
There are also quick-disconnect PMLN8092 straight tubes and threaded screw-in tubes. Many kits have a replaceable transducer if it fails to convert the audio properly.
Long Shift Comfort Options
Most kits include a one size fits all mushroom tip that can be uncomfortable when working long shifts. All acoustic tubes are compatible with a variety of ear tips.
The custom ear gels are significantly more comfortable and are designed for the left or right ear. No ear is the same and small, medium, and larger sizes are offered. The ear molds provide better situational awareness and no hearing protection.
For users needing hearing protection choose foam or layered ear tips.
3.5mm Tube Adapter Options

If you want to try one of the new HD Micro-speakers you can unplug the 2-pin connector from the transducer and use a 3.5mm adapter for acoustic tubes. You will still keep your surveillance kit connected to your radio and use the mic/PTT.
The AD-MAT-3.5F 3.5mm adapter or AD-BAT-3.5F dongle will add compatibility for any receive-only audio accessory. For high noise convert your surveillance kit by adding a dual muff listen-only headset.
