APX XE Fire Models Introduced 15 Years Ago

APX XE Fire Radio History

The first APX 7000XE rugged fire radio was introduced in 2010 and the APX 6000XE followed in 2011. Both models are still in service and continue to protect firefighters in the most extreme conditions.

The APX 8000XE and the NEXT XE provided more functionality and were the first all-band radios. The HXE version was specifically designed for hazardous locations  and certified for UL Class I, Division 1.

The APX NEXT XN model was designed to meet the new NFPA 1802 standard which introduces significantly higher benchmarks for durability, heat resistance, and voice intelligibility.

Last year, Motorola started shipping the APX N-series (N70, N50, N30) that will replace the APX 6000/8000 soon. The N70 XE is the new fireground communications standard.

APX N70 XE ViQi Voice Control

The N70 supports basic and advanced ViQi voice control with a button press. Basic commands include channel and zone selection, volume control, enable/disable scan, and battery level. These features are included with all N70 radios. Advanced voice control supports database queries. Click this link to see our YouTube N70 XE ViQi demo.
