about the same as 9053s

This is the replacement for the old (AA)HMN9053E speaker Mic. Anyone that has purchased the old 9053's knows of the weakest link on it: the 3.5mm plug which wears out and can't be replaced. The 4021A suffers a similar issue which Motorola engineers recognized after the first few releases of this model. The 3.5mm adapter **actually breaks off of the board** and unlike the 9053's, can't be repaired. Moto used some type of red glue to seal the jack onto the board, and it makes it nearly impossible to fix one. It appears that Moto thought they could fix the problem by sticking a flexible foam pad on the inside of the casing to stop the jack from rising up off of the board inside. Fail. It doesn't help. Any of your employees with overzealous fingers will break the jack right off the board and then throw the speaker mic at you calling it a piece of junk. After biting your tongue enough not to throw it back at him, open it up, inspect it, and you will find it cracked away from the board on one corner or the other. This product is fantastic if you or your employees take personal responsibility for their equipment, but if you're looking for a rough rugged piece of gear, find some repaired 9053's and run with those. Moto would do well to set a solid piece of plastic in the case above the 3.5mm jack so that there can be NO play when your employees shove the earpiece plug in.
